The circulation of Andorra Euros given the go ahead for the 23rd of December

The new Andorran Euros will come into circulation this coming 23rd of December, once the Consell de Ministres has approved the regulations of the Law to introduce the Euro in the monetary framework agreement (Acord Monetari) between Andorra and the EU. This incorporates into Andorran regulation several provisions of the EU in relation to security and fraud control with the Euro coins and questions linked to fraud and the exchange of damaged notes. The Finance Minister, Jordi Cinca, has conveyed a message of calm to all citizens that wish to acquire a first edition collection of Andorran Euros, as a mechanism has been put into place to guarantee that everyone will be able to do so at any moment at the face value. He went on to say that they will be presented publicly on the 23rd of December and will come into operation that same day.

Cinca also spoke of the possibility that anyone should be able to buy the coins at their face value and sell them for a collectors price and it is for this reason that despite the fact that this would not be punishable mechanisms have been designed so that this will not be easy to do.
