Parishes elections.

Andorra elects on national level a legislature. The General Council (Consell General) has 28 members, elected for a four year term, 14 in two-seat constituencies (parishes) and 14 by proportional representation. Andorra has a multi-party system, with two strong parties and a third party that is electorally successful.

Andorra consists of seven communities known as parishes (Catalan: parròquies, singular – parròquia). Until relatively recently, it had only six parishes; the seventh, Escaldes-Engordany, was created in 1978.

After 13 days of election campaign today Andorra decides who should govern the seven comuns (parish) over the next four years. In the last two weeks 18 candidates have been basically shelling their proposals , dropping the occasional criticism or reproach to previous leaders and rivals. But it has become clear that communal politics are thin differences in terms of model between the parties , and the format of the campaign gives rise to little debate.
