Andorra wants to be among the top five countries in electric mobility.
Andorra had in 2014 78.158 vehicles registered. Given that the population is around 70,000 -and that, logically, those under 16 are not allowed to have any vehicle-is easy to state that the Principality has a fleet quite large compared to the population.
All this creates a double problem: on the one hand, the road network is in a situation close to collapse, especially when domestic traffic vehicles are added to the numerous tourists who arrive in the country on holiday periods - and, secondly, that generates a significant environmental impact. Meanwhile, the use of public transport is not over extend and much of the population still opting for private vehicles on internal displacement.
To try to alleviate this situation, the Government has decided to make a significant commitment to electric mobility, which has resulted in the implementation of various actions, ranging from the promotion of electric vehicles to the promotion of an intermodal public transport system which aims to ensure that this becomes a real alternative to private vehicles.
