The “Centre Cultural Islamic” is in contact with the Ministry of Justice and Interior

It has assured that it has an agreement with the Government to advise of possible violent threats that they may detect, however this has never been necessary in the Principality
The representative of the “Centre Cultural Islàmic d'Andorra”, Rachid Cherkaoui, has explained to Ara.ad the existence of an agreement with the Ministry of Justice and Interior and the Police to give warning of any person or threat that they may suspect, so that it may be dealt with by the security forces. Cherkaoui recognized that this has never happened in Andorra, but that in the case that a threat did exist they can communicate it.
Nevertheless, the Centre has explained that it is habitual that they provide the Police with information on visitors that they receive in the country from the world of Islam, who are usually Spanish or French.
The representative from the Islamic Centre described how, when they receive a visitor from away, they inform the Department of Interior and that sometimes they go to the Police station to accompany the visitors, to show their passports and “check whether they are on the Interpol directory”.
Cherkaoui has assured that this is act does not bother Muslims residents in Andorra as “we do it to remove doubts, as people live in a world full of doubt and we want to remove these”.
