More than a 100 people gathered on Sunday at la Closeta in La Massana to celebrate the Russian New Year, a festivity that is still doubly celebrated: mainly on the 1st of January of our calendar, the Gregorian calendar, but also that of the Julian calendar, on the night of the 13th to the 14th of January.

This event has been celebrated in Andorra since 5 years ago and is organised by Casa Rússia, coinciding with the increase in Russian tourism and companies, and consequently jobs. Families with children do not miss it, as it is created especially with them in mind. The moment that generates the most expectation is the classical ballet dance, with about ten little ballerinas whith whom everyone has a photo taken afterwards.

This year’s celebration has been marked by the decrease in purchasing power of their compatriots in Russia. There was agreement that Russian tourism will improve in one of two years but that it will not be the same as it was.
