70% of visitors to the Vall de Madriu, World Heritage site, access it via Escaldes-Engordany. The Govern will allocate 200.000€ to improvements to bordes (traditional barns), sheep barns and paths in the area
The management commission of the Vall del Madriu, was inaugurated on Monday and is called the Portal de la Vall. This is a new space given by the Comú d’Andorra la Vella, located at the plaça Lídia Armengol, to help inform of all the elements of the Vall del Madriu to visitors (water, animal and plant species, landscapes and cultural heritage). The space, which has informative panels and a projected documentary on the valley, will also have a pedagogic role and will welcome school visits and workshops.
The administrative part of the management commission, including the office of the Director, have also been transferred to depend on Andorra la Vella. Susanna Simon has explained that for now, visits will be possible by booking and depending on the popularity, at a later date staff might be hired to be able to offer opening hours.
