The Sant Julia Andorran Primary School has been one of the ones to receive an award in the 9th edition of the “Concurs d’Iniciatives Ambientals” (Competition for Environmental Initiatives) with their thermal pillows project. The other award has gone to the company Volta’l for their sustainable mobility proposal. As has been stated by Marc Rossell, the director of the Departament de Medi Ambient (Environment Department), once again this year there has been a decrease in candidates, with only 4 being presented. Nevertheless, the 10th edition of the competition has been presented with the same categories and prizes.
This event has served to acknowledge the schools, entities and businesses that have participated over the past 9 years, such as Carisma, the Sant Julia Andorran Primary School or the Santa Coloma Secondary School or the projects of recycling of Grandvalira – Ensisa.
Up until 2014 there have been 99 projects presented, from which 38 were of the category civil society, 27 businesses and 34 schools. In total, 50.000 euros have been handed out as prizes.
Four projects were presented in this 2014 edition: two from schools, one from civil society and one from a business. In the end the thermal pillows project of the Sant Julia Andorran Primary School and the sustainable mobility project of Volta’l received awards. The Santa Coloma Secondary School received the second prize of the schools category with an allotments project and the organization has made a special mention of the citizen Zeus Lozano for his ecological and co-op allotments which did not receive a prize as it hasn’t been implemented.
The 10th edition was launched on yesterday with the three usual categories and the same provision of 1.500 euros for the first prize and 800 euros for second place. Proposals can be presented until the 20th of November.
