Carisma inaugurates a new shop in Sant Julià de Lòria

The Association Carisma inaugurated its third shop on Monday, this time in Sant Julià de Lòria, in premises donated by the Comú on the Aviguda Verge de Canòlich, 96. The daily management of the shop, where second hand items of all sorts can be found, will be done by Agentas, the work integration programme of l'Escola Especialitzada Nostra Senyora de Meritxell (Specialised School of Nostra Senyora de Meritxell). The president of Carisma, Halina Berthelsen, showed her gratitude for the smooth running of these shops, as “since opening the first one in 2010 in La Massana, we have managed to distribute more than 67.000 euros to charity”.
Around 11 people from the Agentas programme work in the shop from Monday to Saturday, from 10am until 2pm and 4pm to 8pm. The director of Agentas, Sergi Marsal, expressed his joy in being able to give work opportunities to the students of l'Escola Nostra Senyora de Meritxell, “the collaboration with these small businesses is due to the difficulty of integrating people in individual positions”. Marsal assures that they are studying the possibility of working with other organsations and other industries such as hotels, “the Comuns of Andorra la Vella or Encamp are interested in doing projects of this sort”.
In the shop you can find second hand products such as furniture, electronics, toys, clothes or books. The Cònsol Major of Sant Julià de Lòria, Montserrat Gil, explained that the Comunal tip also collaborates with the association, donating items that is in good condition and that can be re-used. Gil assures that the surrounding shop owners are very happy “as there will be more movement”.
