THE FRENCH NATIONAL ASSEMBLY RATIFIES THE CDI

The French National Assembly debated and ratified the agreement with no double taxation Andorra having been rejected twice by the French Senate by the UMP. Both the Secretary of State as the speaker of the Foreign Affairs Committee have argued the need to approve the agreement to step forward and prevent tax evasion and fraud. He also highlighted the efforts of Andorra to modernize its fiscal framework and adapt it to international standards.

Most members have been in favor of ratification of the agreement with the exception of the representatives of the UMP, which reiterated its rejection. The ratification comes nearly two years after the agreement was signed on 2 April 2013 and as the General Council already validated the past year, the text can finally come into force.
