XAVIER ESPOT ADVOCATES FLEXIBILITY TO FACILITATE HIRING EMPLOYEES
The government wants a "flexible quota system" immigration be si employers have a greater ease in hiring manpower that they might need. The Minister of Justice and Interior, Xavier Espot has called representatives of the sectors of hospitality and trade, which are those that are most difficult to fill some vacancies to address this problem and "agree" possible solutions.
According to Espot, the quota system has been proven "excellent" in recent years and, therefore, the intention of the executive is to continue existing in the future. However, the Government is also willing to introduce adjustments necessary to "respond to the needs of employers." In fact, explained Espot, in 2012 already made some changes in the model that worked and opened certain professions, including for example, is dependent on trade, receptionist and chef. For this reason, Espot expressed surprise that he could read some statements in recent days about the lack staff for these jobs.
The Minister agreed, however, to have a "flexible quota system", considering that companies can have far more difficulty finding workers they need because of the significant drop that is registering the unemployed compared to a year ago. The goal, he said Espot is reacting to the reality of each moment reconciling the needs of the business with the domestic labor market. Despite being in favor of a relaxation of quotas, Espot considers, however, we must also continue to demand a minimum wage and a qualification for workers who want to hire so that they can "provide good services" .
