CANILLO CARNIVAL 2016

PROGRAM

Saturday 6 February 4 p.m. Hanging of Carnestoltes, followed by the Parade of the Harlequins and the giants of Canillo. 10 p.m., night dance and fancy dress contest at the Perecaus building.

Sunday 7 February 5 p.m. Show with children’s entertainment and chocolate feast at the Perecaus building.

Monday 8 February 5 p.m. Popular sausage meal at the Cable Car square. Trial and burning of King Carnestoltes.

LA MASSANA CARNIVAL 2016

Friday 5 February 11 a.m. Children’s parade of the parish schools, starting from the church square and going through the streets of La Massana.

Saturday 6 February 5 p.m. Children’s fancy dress contest with entertainment at the Sala de la Closeta.

Monday 8 February Fancy dress contest and different activities at the Pal – Arinsal Vallnord resort.

ANDORRA LA VELLA & ESCALDES-ENGORDANY 2016 CARNIVAL

Friday 5 February 7 p.m. Hanging of Carnestoltes.

Saturday 6 February 6 p.m. Grand Carnival Parade with dance contest. Starting from the Parc de la Mola in Escaldes-Engordany and arriving at the Plaça Príncep Benlloch in Andorra la Vella. Route: Parc de la Mola - c/ del Parnal – Av/ Carlemany – Av/ Meritxell – one-way and Plaça Príncep Benlloch, in front of the Andorra la Vella Commune building The party ends at the congress centre of the capital with a parade/performance of the dances entering the choreography contest and a popular sausage meal with a lot of “carnival music”. Sausage meal tickets €3.

Sunday 7 February 2 p.m. Popular ‘calçotada’ in Carrer dels Veedors in Escaldes-Engordany. Tickets €6.

Monday 8 February 5:30 p.m. Children’s fancy dress party at the Sala Prat del Roure in Escaldes-Engordany, with chocolate and cake for everyone.

Tuesday 9 February 6 p.m. Grand Saucepan Heist in Plaça Guillemó in Andorra la Vella. 7 p.m. Trial and burning of Carnestoltes.

Friday 5 February 10 a.m. Parade with the schools of Sant Julià de Lòria through the parish streets with the Xip Xap entertainment group.

From Friday 5 to Sunday 7 February ‘Tapas’ route around the bars, restaurants and cafeterias between Les Arades and Fontaneda Bridge.

Saturday 6 February 5 p.m. Children’s and youth gymkhana. Plaça de la Germandat. 7 p.m. Opening speech and hanging of Carnestoltes. Plaça Major.

Sunday 7 February 7 p.m. Grand parade with the dancing of the puppeteers, devils, wizards, the witch Bruixa Tecla and the ‘porrers’. Best dressed float and dance contest. Route: starting from Plaça Francesc Cairat, av. Verge de Canòlich, Les Arades, av. Rocafort and ending at the Prat Gran. 8:30 p.m. Popular sausage meal. Marquee in Plaça de la Germandat. 9:30 p.m. Fancy dress ball with the Cimarron orchestra. Plaça de la Germandat marquee.

Monday 8 February 4 p.m. ‘Botifarra’ competition (card game) for all ages at the Llar de Lòria. 5 p.m. Children’s entertainment “Balla, canta i riu” with the Pot Petit Company. Plaça de la Germandat marquee.

Tuesday 9 February 7 p.m. Draw for the prizes of the ‘Tapas’ Route in the Plaça Major. 7:15 p.m. Taking down, trial or will and burning of Carnestoltes in the Plaça Major.
